Emerald eyes had cast themselves up towards the sky as the young female lay flat on the hard ground below. To say her day had been productive would have been a lie. Since waking from her crystal slumber, she hadn’t done that much. Her mind was too messed right now as she felt something was wrong. But what exactly, she wasn’t sure. It didn’t help that she had been separated from Fang. She was all alone, yet again. So far, she tried her best to adapt in the wilderness which was not as hard as it would seem to others. It came as second nature to her, considering how she used to live before, all those years ago.
Those memories back in Oerba were clear as day, unlike the recent ones she was having trouble placing in her mind. A gentle sigh retched from her peach lips as the barren grass began to irate her even more. She didn’t bother to move, as her limbs were heavy, probably due to all that walking around. She couldn’t stay still, as she went from place to place; figuring out what was going on as well as trying to survive. Even Vanille had noticed the increase of creatures was going up slowly but steadily. Plus, some she had not encountered before. Other than that, she had gotten used to living amongst nature, no matter how rough it was.
It was far away from what being on Cocoon was like but so far she didn’t mind. She happened to like being somewhere that held sympathetic value. All those memories of her childhood came flooding back as she lay there, just gazing up at the sky. It made her smile lightly, her hair cushioning her head from the hard ground. This spot was secluded enough for her to go unnoticed, as she let her mind run free. A swift breeze rushed past as she lay there motionless, albeit a little bored.
There wasn’t she could do, not alone. For she had trouble tracking anyone down in this wilderness, hence why she had decided taking a short break. Her limbs were already heavy with exhaustion as she laid there, her eyes tracing up to the sky. It wouldn’t be long till dark, which worried her slightly. She was thinking of taking shelter soon as she sat up into a seated position, bracing her hands around her knees. It was getting cooler too, which threw her off just a tad. Being home was what she wanted back when she on Cocoon although now, she wasn’t sure what to make of it. It just was not the same, as she gazed up at the quickly darkening sky. She had missed her friends and was finding it harder to cope without little interaction. She frowned slightly, picking at grass with her fingers. But nether less, the girl we still hopeful that she would not be on her own for that much longer.

I wonder when its gonna stop being fun for me, Five fucking seconds from now, I really need to quit before it all turns to shit,__________
It was starting to get dark, this couldn’t be good, but it got cooler at least. Vladimir figured that he had to find a safe place to stay, hopefully not occupied by some beasts like he had encountered a while back. They were just pain in the ass to get rid of, not to mention their persistence to eat him as packs were second to none. As he walked across the field he saw all kinds of creatures left and right, fortunately enough he didn’t encounter any of them after his first battle in Gran Pulse. Most of them were going about minding their own business while others merely avoided or got a quick glimpse of him.
On a negative side, he was still yet to find civilization and a way back to Mist Continent. To be quite frank, this had to be some kind of a bad joke, Vladimir still had no clue how or why he ended up here in so-called ‘Gran Pulse’ he could tell it was dangerous because it was filled with untamed wild life, but wouldn’t it make sense that there would be an exit to this place some point? He hoped that he would find a place out of this place soon or at least find a human civilization in this wilderness and he was starting to get hungry, it was obvious by the growl of his stomach crying out for food.
“Damn it, if I don’t find food soon I think I might actually starve to death.”
The water canteen that was almost empty only made things worse than it was. This clearly told him that he was walking around here for several hours without any light out of this tunnel, what a pain. His legs were starting to hurt from all this, but he pressed on to find a place to stay. After another hour of walking, he finally found his reward; he managed to find a secluded spot for him to stay in without any disturbances from bunch of aggressive creatures. This area; however, was already occupied by a young woman that seemed to be resting, but he could be wrong. Still, it seemed like she had no weapons with her. From what he knew this highly decreased her chances of the survival, perhaps he can advise her to go home?
Vladimir couldn’t exactly gather up the courage to speak, he was never good with women in the first place. When he met up he was always started to sweat nervously and always tensed him. This was the reason why he couldn’t have any nice ladies unlike his fellas that he travelled with and god knows what happened to them if they ended up here. He hoped that they were okay, but he still had to live even if he had to talk to a woman. He was actually debating if he should talk to her or not, but for the sake of the directions Vladimir knew he had to talk to her. It was going to be difficult, but he managed to gather up some of the courage that he had within him to approach her.
“H-hey, isn’t it dangerous out here by yourself?” He tried to look friendly, but that nervous smile was clearly visible.

The air trickled down her back, the chill making the fine hairs on her neck stand up on end. To anyone else, this would be a treacherous place to be out in the open quiet like this. Funnily enough, Vanille didn’t feel any fear. Maybe it was because she felt such a strong connection to her home, even if it wasn’t exactly the same as it was back then. The heart was still there, as her eyes cast over the sun, almost ready to set. If she had to be stuck in one place, this was the land that would gladly be her choice although it was not your typical land with proper towns or building structure.
She just had to be careful, treading around the creatures carefully. Besides, she felt confident that she knew this place well enough to survive here. That and she could always find somewhere else to stay for the night anyhow. And if she did run into trouble, she could at least fight back. That was thing about this girl, although petite and innocent minded, she could put up a fight, no problem at all.
She hadn’t spent all her existence being weak that was for sure. This could be told by the fur pelt securely wrapped her skirt, of which she instinctively stroked as she sat there for a moment. There wasn’t much she couldn’t handle, even being on her lonesome. It was something she had to adjust to, coping on her own, amongst the wilderness. Nether less, she was optimistic that she might come across those who she became close to. It was just a matter of searching and time.
A sigh racked from her lips as she thought about moving towards somewhere more sheltered before it became completely dark. Thinking about that for a moment, the red-headed tilted her head, noticing someone’s presence. Footsteps where edging nearer as she looked on curiously. The figure in question was a welcome sight, as it had been some time before she had come across another being; apart from that time she set out on a little adventure to Cocoon. So it was a strange, yet exciting to see life approach her, as she was desperate to find someone, anyone to talk to. The boy looked somewhat awkward as he approached, his voice slightly stuttered. She smiled, waving with her right hand.
She glanced up at him as he said that last comment, which caused her to shake her head defiantly. ”No. This is my home, nothing scares me! I can take care of myself” she chuckled, although it was a bit of a lie. Maybe she had gotten a little stronger, but she was still scared by a couple of things, being alone was one of them.
”I should say the same for you! What are doing out here? You alright?” Vanille answered, now standing up to face the boy.

I wonder when its gonna stop being fun for me, Five fucking seconds from now, I really need to quit before it all turns to shit,__________
What a strange girl being out here all alone – wait, did she just call this place… her home? If so then there had to be a civilization in Gran Pulse, which meant she can probably take him back to her village or probably a city. Still, he couldn’t imagine why people would even want to live here with all these aggressive animals running about preying on meat. People must’ve set up fortification back at the habitation that they lived in, hopefully with well-trained guards or soldiers to guard it; because from what he had seen these things were not your average monsters. At least, that’s how he saw it.
Earlier, a woman in blue with a red spear helped Vladimir to get out of a situation that nearly killed him. After being surrounded by a packs of multiple monsters from different directions allowed him to see what exactly he was dealing with here. Certainly, it made him avoid several potential encounters and battles, but it didn’t exactly mean that he was scared of them; he avoided them so that he didn’t waste any time in this place. Last thing he wanted was to be stuck in Gran Pulse more than he should be. The woman before him could potentially hold the key to his exit?
“If she can take me back to her village or city I may have the chance to go back to Mist Continent, but I have to find my comrades first.” Vladimir thought, “I just hope they are holding out alright.”
It was still surprising for him to see her laugh and boldly say that she wasn’t scared of anything. She was like a little child with an adult body; he could clearly tell that this woman that was standing right in front of him was either a naïve person or just a plain air head just from the way she talked. Any humans were afraid of something, like how he was scared of talking to women. Still, in order to make himself not look suspicious in her eyes he didn’t have much choice other than talk to her since he was intruding her spot.
”I should say the same for you! What are doing out here? You alright?”
Of course he was alright, but what he was doing out here had been the biggest fucking question that he had ever since he woke up in Gran Pulse. Vladimir remembered sleeping under a tree then all sudden waking up in this untamed wilderness filled with aggressive wild life running about. Just as he was about to reply she stepped towards him, out of instinct he took two step backwards to get a space between him and Vanille. By any means that didn’t exactly mean he hated women, he just… felt rather awkward or perhaps scared when they approached him without any warning.
“I-I’m alright, don’t worry about it.” Vladimir replied, “B-but as for being out here, t-that’s the question I’ve been asking ever since I-I got here.”
Vladimir sighed and rested his gigantic sword against the rock wall, “Never mind that, y-you don’t mind if I stay here until the sunrise, r-right?” _________

Vanille didn’t except to come across anyone out here. Mainly it was because she never did. But if there was, she must have missed them. As this was the first of very few encounters she had with anyone within Gran Pulse. If she wanted to talk to anyone, she would travel outside. It was rare though, as it was difficult getting around without the fear of running into creatures. And she didn’t want to be out numbered, not when she was all on her own. So, just to see one face, even a particularly frightened awkward one was a pleasant sight.
It was clear, just by looking at him that he seemed a little on edge, as well as exhausted. Looked as though he had been travelling for miles. Obviously he was not accustomed to the wilderness of Gran Pulse, like she was, being an obvious outsider. There was no telling where he was from, maybe Cocoon? Although, it was getting harder to guess now, as new lands had appeared out of nowhere. This had confused her but she wasn’t dwelling on that fact for now. It wasn’t her time to worry, not when she was in the company of someone new.
They probably had more problems than she had. She watched as he nervously approach to start with and slightly back away as she came towards him. Her face softened, thinking he was just shy. Maybe he had lost his friends like she had? No wonder he was so quiet. Being out here, in a strange place all alone couldn’t be nice. As she knew all too well. But with her optimism, she managed to keep looking on the brighter side. After all, she couldn’t stay sad forever. She tried to remain cheerful, although maybe she was a bit too joyful at times.
Nothing could change that though, that was the way she was. Her naivety sometimes was apparent to others, as perhaps did not act her age all the time. Her smile refused to fade, behind closed doors anyhow. She had a few insecurities that didn’t fade, although most of the time she just buried them deep down. She had to keep on smiling if she was going to survive this dangerous world.
Right now, she looked on to the male curiously, watching him step back. He was anxious, for reasons she wasn’t quite sure. She like to think she wasn’t too off putting. ” Oh, so your lost?” she asked resisting the urge to comfort the boy. She thought about giving him a hug, but maybe that was a bit much. Especially with his nervous disposition.
She beamed, stepping towards him again, slowly, standing just beside him. ”Of course not! You’re welcome to stay with me for as long as you need. Don’t’ want you walking out in the dark alone!” she shook her head with a little grin.
”I won’t bite, honest” she giggled, lightly touching his shoulder in a comforting yet teasing gesture. Hopefully she would get him to open up and feel more comfortable. --------------------------------------- Tag:vladimir Words: 511 Notes: -- Credit:text banner cred to anabel and adelynne @ caution

I wonder when its gonna stop being fun for me, Five fucking seconds from now, I really need to quit before it all turns to shit,__________
“Well, at least she doesn’t look like an enemy.” Vladimir thought, “I should try and relax, but… I don’t think it’s going to be easy with her around.”
He let himself collapse onto the cool, rocky surface in exhaustion. It wasn’t exactly a best place to be resting, but out of all the places this small spot right here was a sanctuary compared to the other places. His leg muscles felt as if they’ve turned into a mush, it pretty much told him that he was pretty much worn out from walking all day. Damn, he was so tired that he felt like he didn’t have the strength to stand up anymore. All he wanted to do was just to stay here, relax and forget about all the monsters he had encountered for today. Those things only added onto the stress that he was under, especially with a girl around.
”Oh, so your lost?”
Lost? Since he didn’t exactly know where he was going, she could say that. Vladimir intended to ask her where the next town or city was considering that she lived in Gran Pulse. So, yes he was lost in middle of a nowhere. He scratched his cheek as he looked up towards the night sky, “Y-yeah, you c-could say that.” The warrior replied with a forced laughter, “I-I was going t-to ask where the next village o-or city was.” She then made a sudden remark that he was more than welcome to stay with her as long as he liked. That was a relief, but he didn’t want to overstay her welcome in a spot she perhaps claimed for herself.
Well, at least he was welcomed into the spot where he was sitting now. It was good to have a place to rest with scenery like this. It reminded him of the times when he spent his years in Black Mage village, occasionally he used to sleep outside after he was either done studying or was in the mood for it. That very same calm wind seemed to blow here as well; despite the aggressive predators around Gran Pulse the sights were welcoming. Its lush green pastures, flowers and clear blue sky made it a perfect spot for a getaway.
Just as Vladimir felt he was allowing himself to relax a little he felt a hand placed on his shoulder. When he found out the source of the touch came from he suddenly flushed and quickly shifted him backwards to get some space. He felt his heart starting to beat faster from sudden nervousness, pumping more blood into his body more than it should be. Vladimir panicked, why did she touch him? She said that she wasn’t going to bite him but was there really need for touching?
“P-please don’t t-touch me.” He said. If he told her the reason that he didn’t want to be touched, she probably may think he was weird? At least, that’s how Vladimir thought so. His phobia of women were never conquered, slightest touch always made him panic-mode like this. He slowly dusted himself off, trying to regain his composure, “I-I’m sorry.” He apologized, “M-my name’s Vladimir Ilossa by t-the way, n-nice to meet you.” _________

---------------------------------------
Vanille tilted her head, watching him sit down the ground, clearly exhausted as she first thought. Poor thing she thought to herself, a pleasant yet cornered look appearing on his face. It had to be rough waking up in a place such as this, especially when you weren’t used to it. Vanille was just lucky that she did wake up here, although she was still confused and distressed at finding herself here, with no one she knew around here, wondering what possibly had happened after that becoming Ragnarok. It was horrible, all these turn of events. She had no clue what was going on and she still didn’t.
None of that mattered, not now anyway. She was too busy trying to get to know her new acquaintance, no matter how shy he was turning out to be. She didn’t like seeing people this awkward; it worried her for some reason. She smiled reassuringly as she sat down on the ground, stretching her legs out in front of her. She held her hands in her lap, staring up at the peaceful sky. It was a pleasant day luckily, although it was about to end. She looked towards the white haired male, not surprised to hear that he was lost. After all, Gran Pulse was a huge place; it was very easy to do so.
”Oh...well there aren’t many places here. Most of Gran Pulse is deserted, although there are still settlements somewhere, maybe. But there is this place that is on the outskirts of here. Although I can’t remember the name of it...It’s a big place, strange too.” the girl nodded thinking about Rabanastre. There weren’t many civilisations set from here, not that she went out to venture. Actually she hadn’t been back to Oerba as it unsettled her the last time. It was coated in crystal the last time and riddled with cie’th. To be quite honest, she was frightened to go back there.
The girl gladly shook those memories from her mind, as she was still wondering if it was it to explore more. She couldn’t find a trace of anyone back here so they had to be elsewhere. She vowed to keep on searching. When she wasn’t too busy slaying monsters and/or hiding from them. Being outnumbered wasn’t exactly a good plan on her part. At least it gave her something to do; after all she was rather bored on some days.
The girl’s eyes widened, having no idea that such a gentle tap would completely freak him out. She retracted her hand as fast as she could, while smiling gently, keeping the whole no contact thing in her mind. ”I’m sorry! I didn’t frighten to hurt you! Are you sure you’re alright?” the girl looked at him, full of concern. She wasn’t used to seeing anyone this nervous. And all she wanted to do was the very thing that would probably freak him out more. She smiled gently, hiding her hands behind her back.
”I’m Vanille. It’s very nice to meet you too Vladimir.” the girl nodded, knowing that snow would not be the time to stick out her hand for a friendly handshake. ” What do you think of Gran Pulse so far?” she tilted her head slightly and looked up at the sky. --------------------------------------- Tag:vladimir Words: 500+ Notes: -- Credit:text banner cred to anabel and adelynne @ caution

I wonder when its gonna stop being fun for me, Five fucking seconds from now, I really need to quit before it all turns to shit,__________
That was a relief; the girl confirmed that there was a place outside of the Gran Pulse. Vladimir sighed and smiled out of hope that his escape out of this deserted wildlife would not be in vain, but he needed to know where he was going first. This city that he would head to perhaps is the only ticket to get back to Mist Continent; hell, he sure didn’t want to come back to this place for sure. Next time he might as well be careful where he’d sleep.
Ever since he got here he was filled with questions. It seemed like those questions seemed to disappear one by one, like an eraser running across the pencil marks; however, the stains of the pencil mark still remained. Vladimir was still confused on how he got here. Such an unexplainable turn of events it was, but he had to suck it up and keep traveling for the exit. The girl can perhaps tell him where he should head next and be his guide.
On the other hand, Vladimir was starting to think that his comrades were done for. Surely they had suffered their horrible fate even if they were hardened mercenaries. He didn’t want to think that they were dead, but… searching for them would be dangerous. If this place was large enough to house massive creatures as he had seen earlier who knows how big this place is? He could be wondering here for years! He didn’t want that, he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Maybe, they can out on their own those guys have survived wars and skirmishes; there was no way that they were dead, right? At least, that’s how he wanted to believe.
”I’m sorry! I didn’t frighten to hurt you! Are you sure you’re alright?”
The sudden apology made him snap back into reality, Vladimir shook his head and smiled tensely, “D-don’t apologize, i-it’s my fault that I’m scared so easily.” Of course he was alright, but the fact that she ever so slightly touched his shoulder earlier made him tense up a little bit more than before. How embarrassing to act such way in front of a young girl, even he found it ridiculous. Then again, he couldn’t exactly help it. Just as he was about to rest a little she energetically introduced herself as Vanille. Well, it’d be kind of rude if he fell asleep, especially when they just met.
Vladimir nodded in acknowledgment, but there was one thing that he couldn’t acknowledge. The fact that how he was liking the Gran Pulse. To be quite frank, he hated it so much that if he had the chance he would burn the entire place if he had the ability to do it so that no one would be troubled by these… things. The beasts, bizarre creatures and wildlife ever again. The scenery on the other hand was the only thing that he had to compliment it for, but this place was Vanille’s home. He couldn’t possibly bring himself to say that he hated it; if he did he might hurt her feelings. That’s how he looked at things at least.
“I-it’s be a nice place for a picnic, I-I guess.” He simply replied, but his stomach growled again. Oh crap, he forgot that he hadn’t eaten anything all day! Vladimir felt his stomach contract; it was begging him for food. Anything would do really as long as it filled his stomach. He didn’t care if it was some mountain berry or a grass, a food was a food. “S-say, i-is there anything to eat around here?”
