Riku is a tall boy, more muscular in body shape than most other boys, but is also rather slim. His skin color is slightly tanned from his days at home on his island, and he has flowing silver hair that ends in spikes as it cascades down the back of his shoulders. He has aquamarine blue colored eyes, the same color as a clear ocean surrounding an island on a sunny day.
His clothing consists of a black sleeveless undervest, underneath a sleeveless white and yellow one. Both have zips and collars, but the black inner vest is zipped up and has a short turned-up collar, while the outer one is turned down and has triangular corners and fasteners with buttons. He wears baggy navy bluepants with lighter colored rectangular pockets, worn low around his waist with a black and white belt with a rectangular silver buckle. His shoes ar white and rey with a darker grey on the toe of the shoe, black stripes along the side and yellow shoelaces. To finish off the casual look he has a white bracer he wears on his left wrist, which also covers the top of his left hand.

PERSONALITY
Riku is a rather cocky and arrogant individual, and often shot quick quips humorously at his friends. He also likes to tease them, always about something truthful like them being sappy or lazy, or if they have a certain feelings about people they really like more than friends because he likes to have a laugh with them. While he may complain about people being cheesy, soft or helpful towards him, he doesn't stop them from doing so, and accepts it with a smirk. He's always up for co-operating with others, unless the reason behind doesn't fall with what he likes, until they are done with the task at hand. He is extremely competitive with his best friends and usually is better than them than everything, so sometimes he will give his friends a break to try to catch up to him if they aren't already slacking off, and will comfort them when they are feeling down or something bad has happened to them.
He normally is a person who goes off on his own however, and will try to take on too much for himself and for his friends, even if it costs him. Even though he is content with being on his own, he is extremely loyal to his friends, so he can see them happy even if it is at his own expense. He will try to keep his distance from others and not show his emotions, in order to spare his feelings from them, as he is too proud and shameless to be seen as weak or disfigured. He is also unbridled and full of life, and does not like being held back or imprisoned, as he tells people against him that they cannot stop him from what he wants. He is stubborn in this manner, and will not stop until he achieves what he sets out to do.
Because he would rather keep his emotions to himself and be seen as a more mature, intellectual figure, he also has a secretive nature. He will keep how he feels and any knowledge that is important to him to himself, until he feels the time is right to tell his friends when they show they need those answers. He is also kind underneath his cool demeanor, and can feel sorry for others that have a similar good nature, even if their misfortune is made at his own hands. He is reflective in this manner, and will often look back at any wrong he has done with conscience, in order to cheer someone up and tell them not only what is right for them but for everyone as well. Riku is calm, collected and extremely brave towards the unknown. He is constantly full of energy to take on these endeavors, and won't give up no matter how many times he is beaten.

(Warning: Contains some spoilers of a game due to be released at the time. If you do not want to be spoiled, do not highlight the white text below.)
~Birth By Sleep~
Born on Destiny Islands, not much takes place for the young boy named Riku until he is five years old, and taken out to the islands he would later spend the rest of his youth with Sora and his father, because they are too young to go themselves. Sora having raced him to the Paopu Islands and back to the docks to prove their worth, their competitive streak having already started at such a young age, Riku slowly walks after Sora on the way back with confidence that he would have won anyway so is friend could win a race for once. Along the way he notices a stranger, a man who has been watching the two, and the man kneels down to talk to him. Unbeknowst to Riku, the chaser known as Terra asks Riku a few questions, before Riku reveals his inner-most desire to leave the world someday when he is older so he can grow stronger and protect his friends. Satisfied with what he hears, Terra performs willingly the Keyblade Inheriance Ceremony, where a keybarer that has accquired the skill of the keyblade can pass down the power of wielding a keyblade to a successor by having them hold the handle of their weapon, which he asks Riku to do sensing he has the potential like himself to do so. Riku holds the upside-down handle of the keyblade while Terra is holding it, proving Riku can and will become the inheritor of a keyblade someday, but their conversation is interupted any further when Sora calls to Riku from the docks in light of his absence. Terra asks Riku to keep this conversation between only them as a secret, so when the young Sora curiously asks Riku as he rejoins him, Riku stubbornly refuses to tell him anything.
Later on while racing again on the same island, Sora and Riku are surprised to see a young woman drop down to them as they are racing under the bridge of the Paopu Island. The second chaser to encounter him, Aqua, senses that Riku has had the Keyblade Initciation Ceremony performed on him, and she wonders if it was performed by Terra. She asks their names which they give to her, so she can ask Sora if he likes Riku, to which Sora replies cheerfully that Riku is his best friend. Aqua smiles at this, and asks Sora if he can always be by Riku's side, so if anything happens to him he can look out for him. Sora subtly agrees, and the two boys leave Aqua as they go back to the dock, unaware of the Keyblade Master's intentions which would come true in the future as it had already come to pass with herself and Terra.
At the end of the events, Sora and Riku are sitting on the beach of the mainland looking up at the stars at night, and Riku suggests they go home since it's starting to get late and Sora agrees. Walking back to their houses, Riku notices something is wrong with his best friend, and asks about this as a tear rolls down Sora's cheek. Sora doesn't know himself and asks Riku why this could be, and Riku suggests that maybe somewhere in the worlds someone is sad, and at Sora's further questioning on what to do considers after a moment that Sora should try having his heart reach out to them. Sora closes his eyes to try, and for a while Sora appears to be elsewhere as Riku waits patiently, before the young boy opens his eyes. Reassured that everything is alright now, the two boys go back home, and the events that recently transpired during this time is forgotten within their youthful memory.
~Kingdom Hearts~
Some time between the end of their childhood and their adolescence, Sora and Riku discover the Secret Place underneath the waterfall, and find an odd door at the back of the cave. Sora mentions about how they should go and meet the mayor's new daughter that Sora found the night the stars were falling in the sky, now that she's settled in and leaves the cave ahead of Riku, but before Riku leaves behind him he turns back and notices a keyhole in the door that they did not see before.
When Riku is fifteen, he, Sora and the mayor's daughter Kairi have become fast friends, and decide they want to explore their world by building a raft. After building the raft and battling Sora and the others with wooden swords, Riku watches the sunset with them on the Paopu Island and thanks Kairi for giving him the idea that there are other worlds out there, because of the one she had came from she had no memory of. This has given him doubt that because there are worlds out there, he feels contained and trapped within his current world, and being a young adolescent to test his boundries grows a dark desire within to be set free. As they leave, he throws Sora a paopu fruit as he tells how two people who share it will have their destinies intertwined, teasing Sora that he knew he wanted to use it with Kairi. The next day, he challenges Sora to a race, his reasons to be to share the Paopu fruit with Kairi. After the race is over, he reveals he was just teasing Sora, and finishes the raft for the day. That night was the night that would change everything, as a storm came to the island, and Riku took a boat out to check on the raft. As he arrived, he was drawn to the door inside the Secret Place, and finally was given the opportunity to open it, allowing the heart of the world to be exposed and Heartless to enter the world. He waited for Sora to arrive, darkness beginning to fill his heart, and extended a hand out in invitation as darkness surrounded them both. Riku disappeared in this darkness, after the island was destroyed, and somehow wound up in the new world created by Calamity.
~Storm On The Horizon (created history entering Calamity's world)~
Where Riku landed was no longer an island paradise like Besaid or Costa Del Sol had been, but a new world as promised to him since the day Kairi had arrived on the island, a large castle city ruled by a autocratic empire. Archadia was divided by two areas; the higher area where the rich and privelaged lived in a well maintained and technological lifestyle, and the lower area outside their walls where the poor and sick lived a life of depravity and suffering. It was in the slums that Riku first found himself appearing in an alleyway, exploring the area and once again testing his boundries, but soon became disinterested when the guards turned him away from the border entering the upper inner city. Riku had no desire to explore a city walled in of snobish upper-class citizens and stuffy royalty; he desired to be free once more. The darkness slowly responding to his inner tempations at the touch of his fingertips, discovering gradually over time as he worked at it that he could open corridors that lead to a darkness which linked between the shadows of all places, he eventually used these inate powers of his to leave Archadia and discover the world beyond.
He would not like what he found there... and he would be unprepared for it.

Soul Eater (image here):
A weapon named after the infamous ability of Final Fantasy Dark Knights, basically it looks like a ebon and crimson colored demon's wing, with a aquamarine eye set into the hilt the same color as Riku's own. It has no handguard as it's meant to be light in design and execution, as Riku wields it one-handedly. This weapon's origins comes from the crafting of Riku's own darkness, and is said gradually increase in power over time as it is used with dark powers.
STOCKED ABILITIES
Corridor to Darkness (Auto/Passive): Riku can manipulate the darkness and the shadows around him to open a dark portal, which allows him to traverse through the darkness of the world and appear in a location of his choosing, however repeated use of this ability or using it when he is exhausted or injured causes a severe strain upon his use of the darkness to a point where the darkness takes over and consumes him. With this in mind, he only uses it sparingly to travel large distances otherwise unreachable by foot or other transportation, to bypass obstacles or to move quickly when time is of the essence. This ability cannot be used in battle.
Barrage (Active/command): Riku stabs forward at his foe, slashes in a diagonal motion, then jumps back and hovers momentarily in the air as he throws his keyblade forward horizontally in a spinning fashion at his opponent. The entire combo does moderate damage, and the thrown keyblade can hit multiple enemies in a boomerang effect as it returns to Riku's hand. (Cooldown: Use first turn, cooldown the following turn.)
Dark Aura (Command/active): Riku shoots a barrage of six to eight dark fireballs at the enemy, which are of the darkness element. These fireballs are homing and are quick to be fired in rapid succession towards the enemy, and do not do much damage seperately if spread between multiple enemies, but do moderate to heavy damage in total on a single enemy. (Cooldown: Two posts.)
BREAKING LIMIT
Dark Mode (Auto/Passive):
When Riku builds up enough energy in battle or absorbs enough damage, he flips and transforms into a different attire created by darkness called Dark Mode. In this mode his powers of darkness and speed increase slightly, and he is capable of performing a dark and empowered version of his attacks (for example, Barrage turns into Dark Barrage and is of the darkness element, but Dark Aura remains the same.) His Dark Mode attire consists of a completely black-hooded cloak, gloves, boots, and blindfold to contain the true potential of the monstrous dark powers he holds at bay. The cloak has a large zipper which is zipped halfway down, unzipped from the waist down in a reverse zipper, and the only part of the outfit that isn't black is the silver choker around his neck.
Here is what the outfit looks like.
Darkstrom (Active/command):
Riku taps into his dark powers, and starts charging forward hastily in a streak of non-elemental ice-blue energy, his Soul Eater extended out to pass through the enemy with slashes up to as many as five times. The more slashes he does, the longer the second half of Darkstrom lasts, but the tradeoff is it also takes him out of Dark Mode and he has to wait the same amount of time before he can change back and use Darkstrom again. The second half of Darkstrom after the charging slashes is that same ice-blue energy forms around Riku's Soul Eater and extends it's width and length, doubling his physical attack power until the energy disapates.
(Cooldown: One charge slash, one extended slash first post, one turn cooldown the following post; two charge slashes, two extended slashes the first post, two turns cooldown the following post etc, up to a total of five charge slashes, five extended slashes first post, five turns cooldown in the following posts etc.)
