Close To PerfectionNothing Else Out There - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rydia didn’t think she was going to like this new world much. There was the finky mist that made her feel odd and sometimes come down with a sickness or two. Then every city seemed to be disheartening in some way. Baron was dull and murky. Alexandria was extra gloomy. Midgar was weird and melancholy. Luca suffered from emptiness and depression. Not to mention she seemed to be encountering trouble everywhere. There were monsters looking to kill her, scary looking people bossing her around, loud ladies bossing her around, odd people trying to take her away for no reason, and crazy men trying to kill her. And while she met some really nice piece, she also met some people she wished she had never met. Her current company was included.
It was in her nature to believe in the best of people, but the girl was starting to wonder if that was the best choice. Somewhere along the way she had to have been tricked. When trying to head back to Baron to try to reconnect with Cecil, she did something bad. There was a loud rumbling that sounded like a monster. With the mist being so thick, she couldn’t see the creature but she could hear it and feel the air heating up. Assuming she was able to be attacked by some odd dragon, the girl reacted. If it wasn’t a dragon, then it wouldn’t have been considered an overreaction. Casting [Thundaga] when facing a dragon seemed like the smartest answer. It was just that when the mist cleared, there was an odd looking contraption and two unconscious armored men.
When two other men came out of the mechanical monster, they immediately attacked. People attacking her were bad people; at least that much was obvious to the young girl. It was just she wasn’t ready to get into some type of serious fight, and she did want to check on the two men she had severely hurt. The men used odd weapons similar to the odd looking weapons she saw in Midgar. Usually when people attacked she could avoid the first attack or at least survive it. This wasn’t the case this time around. Her body collapsed instantly as her mind couldn’t stay conscious. At times like this she really counted on Cecil to save her! It was rather unfortunate that she had gotten separated with the White King.
When she regained semi consciousness, she noticed she wasn’t outside anymore. Instead she was inside something similar to the Lunar Whale. The floors were cold and hard like the Luna Whale, and she was somehow tied up. It wasn’t rope they used, but something else that she didn’t understand that kept her restrained. She could hear her captures talking about how they were repairing to dock with a criminal and a huge frown appeared on her face. Surely they couldn’t be talking about her; Rydia was no criminal! She made mistakes on occasion, but she didn’t ever do very bad things. She wasn’t a thief or a murder, and she wasn’t some scary looking individual. So the thought of being restrained while there was some scary criminal aboard made her nervous. ”Let me go,” she whined loudly. ”I don’t want to be here! I want to go home! Home, home, home!” Her whining seemed to attract the attention of one of the men that attacked her last time. Instead of waiting to get hurt again, Rydia knew better. The moment one of the mean men came for her, she casted [Stop] on him then made a bolt for the exit. The only problem with trying to exit was she didn’t know where it was.
She heard shuffling and footsteps coming closer. If she was on a Lunar Whale then that meant the exit could be down below. Panicked, she caused [Quakga] on herself. The floor under her shook, rumbled, and eventually gave out from under here. Oddly, she didn’t go falling out of the sky, but she fell into something hard and cold that felt like another Lunar Whale. Her eyes looked up at the ship she created a massive hole though. The world seemed to be spinning from the mini earthquake and fall, but when alarms went sounding, she knew it was time to run. Her tiny feet took off towards no particular direction. This Lunar Whale seemed extremely large. Her bad sense of direction seemed to work against her as the handcuffed girl ran straight towards armed men turning towards her.
It was going to be very difficult to get home, she could already tell.

when all is said and done, i will be free, and when i’m gone, you can't depend on me, in time you’ll see you stand alone into our own- - - - - - - - - - “sir, the prisoner aboard one of our smaller aircrafts has escaped.”
cid raines kept writing his report, eyes fixed on the paper though watching the man from his peripherals. “sir-“ “description of the prisoner,” he cut the man off with, finally sitting up and placing his pen on the desk. “... she has green hair, and though she looks fragile she managed to knock two armoured soldiers unconscious.” the primarch ran a hand through his black hair and sighed, closing his eyes momentarily. “have you considered that they might have spooked her into attacking them-”
“soldiers please report to the observation deck. the prisoner has landed upon there.” a voice said over the intercom, and without a second to lose cid was on his feet (almost tripping over his own feet in the process) and walking out of the room, followed by the young soldier who seemed to be confused at what the primarch was doing. what was cid going to do? attempt suicide again go see if this prisoner was as bad as she seemed. he had a slight feeling that the girl might have been provoked into attacking, after all, cid probably would be too if he saw armoured men running towards him.
when he stood at the top of the stairs, now outside on the observation deck, he wasn’t very surprised to find that it was quite windy up here, though some soldiers might have been. the deck was not actually hidden at the moment, by the folded wings, so obviously there would be strong wind there. cid opened his mouth and shouted against the sudden strong wind, his uniform’s cape streaming behind him. “soldiers, back away from the girl!” as soon as he started speaking the soldiers recognised his voice and as well as making a parting they edged back on his orders, allowing cid to walk through them and allow him to see the escapee with his own pale green optics. cid remembered the last ‘prisoner’ he picked up, and the one before that. fang was the latter, and he had been in contact with her only some time ago. he was worried about snow villiers, though, the man whose personality was almost like his.
“primarch cid raines,” he said, making his way nearer to the girl however keeping a respectable distance between the two of them. he heard movements behind him, the soldiers obviously tense in case the girl attacked their leader. “your name is?”
she was not yet a threat in cid’s eyes, and heck, he was a l’Cie sympathiser – back before he became one, when he was one, and now.

Close To PerfectionNothing Else Out There - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It was like she was in a circus! Whenever she ran right, they all ran right with her. Whenever she ran left, they all ran left with her. Even if the whole thing didn’t look like some circus act it surely some kind of grand charade. It wasn’t often that there was such a mass crowd doing the same things like it. If they weren’t going to attack her, then Rydia might have been excited. Instead this was a rather panicked situation. Someone yelled causing her to stop, and oddly the people behind her stopped too. When she turned around, there was some man coming through. The way those armed men acted, he had to be very important. Maybe he was the head knight here, or maybe he was a prince. By the rather callous way he introduced himself, she assume he was just another mean armed guy, just with authority.
”Rydia,” she replied with a pout.
Her nervousness fluttered as she stood there with the haired knight-commander in front of her. If she were a normal girl, she might have been bedazzled by his looks or even grateful for stopping his squad; but Rydia was far from normal. She looked at the man uneasily before looking behind her. She wasn’t sure if he had come here to prove he was stronger than her or if he was actually on her side. The way the people behind him looked, she doubted his reasoning was for the latter. ”ItsverynicetomeetyouandIamsorry,” she blurted out as quickly as possible before raising her hand to the air. ”[Stop],” she shouted before running off down into some corridor. It wasn’t long before there were tons of footsteps following her. The world was so against her nowadays! It totally wasn’t fair.
Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap.
She was saying something she darned not to say aloud as she kept running down a rather confusing Lunar Whale. This one had to have been big enough to fit about three Lunar Whales because this hallway seemed endless and it wasn’t a clear cut way to the control room. It wasn’t too long before there seemed to be a group of men running towards her from in front and behind. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. She quickly turned right into the first narrow corridor she could find to stop from getting trapped by the hordes of soldiers. Unfortunately the new corridor only led her back to the exact spot she had run away from. The stopped as she blinked in confusion at the man she had froze one again right in front of her face. Of course, the confusion disappeared the moment guns were pressed again her back. The tiny little thing shut her eyes tightly as she did her best not to cry. ”I want to go back home to Baron and Cecil,” she whimpered lowly. Why couldn’t she ever get back to where she was headed to?

when all is said and done, i will be free, and when i’m gone, you can't depend on me, in time you’ll see you stand alone into our own- - - - - - - - - - with her name stated this ‘rydia’ proceeded to say that it was nice to meet cid, and then saying that she was sorry. for what, though? but her next word was the answer. when the spell stop hit him it caused cid to stumble back and freeze on the spot. which provoked the soldiers into running after the girl. the primarch found himself unable to order them to stop, and with a twitch he wondered what had caused her to attack him. was he really that intimidating, or was she already scared?
after a minute, cid found himself able to move and without time to loose he went into the inner lindblum, going down the corridors – still followed by the soldier from earlier, who seemed to be unwilling to leave his side – and making his way through them, using the sounds of rushing feet to guide his way to the green haired girl. after a while he saw her running down one of the narrow hallways, towards him, and stopping in front of him. the dark haired man stepped back a little, eyes narrowing when the soldiers pressed their guns against the girl’s back. he shook his head, and they pulled their weapons away from her – albeit unwillingly. it was at that moment when cid heard a low whimper from the girl, and he looked down... was she trying not to cry?
“baron,” he repeated, looking up again and looking at the soldier beside him, who responded with, “one of the other kingdoms, sir.” cid lowered his pale green gaze to the girl again and he raised a hand, shooing the soldiers behind her away. “i may be cocoon’s ruler but i am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. i also don’t want... rydia to be intimidated by the likes of you lot. back to work. i want reports of that wyvern flying around this area,” he ordered, then looked at the young one beside him. “please accompany rydia to my office and make sure she doesn’t flee,” the primarch said, voice lowered, “sword, now. make her feel safe. i will be with you both in a few minutes.”
cid took the sword from the younger and directed his next words to rydia. “if you want anything, feel free to ask ross. he will take you to my office and i will be with the both of you in a few minutes,” he jerked his head to the soldier, as if to say that he was ross, before he watched the private lead the girl off. when they went round the corner, he was sure he could hear a quiet voice but he wasn’t sure if it was in his head, from a certain red dragon of his, or from the pair going to his office. ignoring it, cid went off in the direction of the control room to fetch some information about this ‘baron’ and its location on this new world.
“baron is located...”
cid’s eyes watched the holographic screen as it pinpointed the location of a castle on a continent to the south. “here. however if we go there we may end up being attacked. the soldiers colonel rosch sent weren’t, but the kingdom seemed to be wary,” cid lowered his eyes then spoke. “any information on a ‘cecil’?” he asked, watching as the hologram disappeared and fixing his optics on the soldier at the computer. “we hear information that he is the king of baron,” there was a pause as the soldier recognised the confusion on cid’s face, “remember not all of the kingdoms use the same ranking system as we do. he is baron’s equivalent of a primarch.”
he raised an eyebrow. “well then, this gives us an opportunity to create an alliance with this... king cecil, and rydia could help us get a meeting with him,” cid nodded in thanks to the soldier and turned on the heel of his boots and walked off in the direction of his office, arriving there quickly and in the amount of time he said he was back in. the first thing he did once in his neutral coloured office was check the back window that stretched along the wall (the glass was soundproof and stronger than the average) to make sure that a dragon wasn’t poking its head in again, and then to make sure that the ‘prisoner’ had not... attempted to run away. not like she would get away. the cavalry had dealt with people attempting to get away.
they did get a lot of damn practise with fang.

Close To PerfectionNothing Else Out There - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She was still whining lowly to herself as the man seemed to be talking. It was a childish moan that children did when they were sad about things not going their way. Things were going terrible for the little green haired black mage. Even with those weapon-thingies removed, she still felt afraid. There were so many and she couldn’t summon her mother or father suddenly to protect her while clearing out the room. And Mist Dragon couldn’t appear so they could go flying back home either. Everything was against her favor! It was only be luck that people in power seemed to take a shine to her.
At once the big bullying crowd seemed to dissipate. They all left in moans and whispers, but they left all the same. Granted, there were still a handful of people left including the man who was a little scary, but they weren’t pointing weapons at her at the moment so maybe things were safe? It didn’t stop her low whiny moans. The man who seemed to in charge was talking to her gently, but he really didn’t offer kind gestures. Cecil was once a scary man, but he did things like pat her on the head to let her know she was a good girl or a kind smile to let her know it was safe. The man with dark hair was proper, but a bit intimidating all the same. He directed her to follow some man, and she nodded with a frown and teary eyes. As the soldier led the way, she followed behind him. She looked back for a moment to see the man still watching and rushed quickly along. She didn’t want him to suddenly get upset she was walking to slow and scream for them to attack her again. Rydia wasn’t someone strong enough to take on a whole army!
She followed the soldier into an overly large office. It was at least the size of the throne room in Baron. Weren’t offices supposed to be small studying spaces that people like mechanics used? A deeper frown appeared on her face. There was something very wrong with the situation. The tiny girl moaned, causing the soldier to look her way. She quickly looked down at the ground and twiddled her thumbs. Maybe she should have taken her chances with make a giant hole in the Lunar Whale ship. As long as these people weren’t trying to take her to the moon, there had to be something under her. But falling to the ground from so high up was going to hurt…it was going to hurt really, really bad. Another moan escaped her lips. The man eyed her and she pouted. ”Can…can I go home now?” Before he could answer, that scary man came. She pouted as her fingers twiddled away. He was probably the person to ask but he gave her such scary looks. It was hard to ask someone like that just to let her go. He walked past her towards the window and she stood there still frowning. She almost felt ignored. Just what was so great about the window? Then again, maybe she should have been running to the window to see how far up she was. Chances were it was just too high to safely freefall from.
”I…I’m sorry,” she apologized again in a meek tone, ”can I leave now? I promise I won’t do it again…”
