------------------------------------------------------------- And step by step, Aurei made his way down the roads of Palumpolum, with no definite destination in mind. A simple wanderer, as he allowed himself to take in the many sights the city had to offer, the young man carrying a grin upon his face. There were an abundance of road stalls and other such random festivities, the place utterly entertaining Aurei. This was probably that kind of town, the place known as City of Entertainment.
The young man was clad in his plain red shirt and a pair of black pants, followed by a pair of black combat boots. The Tiel Blade was sheathed and attached to his back, the hilt sticking out over his right shoulder. His body swayed with every step he took, his silver hair waving along, his icy blue hues constantly shooting from side to side. Palumpolum really had a lot to offer here. He allowed himself to smirk, allowing himself to indulge in them for a moment.
True, he had come here to find Auric, but after many a day of searching, he had still failed to find even a clue as to where Auric was. Something that Aurei had gotten used to. Back in Gran Pulse, it almost seemed his brother never existed, as he searched the whole wilderness and settlements the Gran Pulse bore.
"Hey! Do you wanna feel so energetic?"
The deep loud voice crackled and loomed over the sounds of the crowd as a large screen on a billboard suddenly started to play an advertisement, the voice itself enough to catch Aurei's attention as the 21-year-old stopped in his tracks, turning smoothly on his heels as he faced the advertisement, his eyebrows raised in curiousity and wonder.
"Try Powerthirst! Energy drink for people who need gratuitous amount of energy!"
Aurei's facial expression changed as he raised one eyebrow now, his smile fading away as he stared at it awkwardly. What? What the hell was this about? It was obvious that it was an advertisement for a drink, but the advertisement was just so frikin wacky.
"With all new flavors like Shockolate! Chocolate energy! It's like adding chocolate to an electrical storm!"
"... Uhm, what?" Aurei muttered out loud, unable to help himself as he gave an awkward smile. Right. So this was the advertisements that this city had to suffer almost everyday, huh?

It took quite a lot of...work to be put into such a strange commercial. Sonia wished that she wasn't human anymore, having to been forced in sharing the same blood. For once, the ever so conniving witch was actually truly baffled. There was no words to explain the entire stupidity of the ad and she was fairly tempted to short circuit that commercial.
That would give her away sorely as Sonia regained composure as quickly as she lost it. Then the man next to her spoke as her eyes quickly turned towards him. Sonia was not the type of woman to judge so quickly so he was not of interest yet to her. But she decided to play along, strolling next to him, looking at him and winking, putting on a playful smile.
"It isn't your average commercial, I can tell you that." Her voice was coy but sweet, with a hint of playfulness. It sounded as if she enjoyed the people's non-reaction to it, as if they had seen this commercial many times over and only he and her stopped, almost making them seem like non-residents of Palumpolum. She figured this because he reacted the same way as her - and no one else has.
"I guess you're just like me - in for a fresh new city!" Even though Sonia was 35, age didn't come onto her skin, still looking like in her early twenties. Besides, when one was old, age knew no bounds. And if the roach fell into the spider's web, she would wrap him up and make sure he'll never leave...alive, anyways. But she felt like toying with him, wrapping him up slowly.
How did this boy interest her? The insanity in her boiled into her mind. but, she was very careful not to leak any of her insanity out - for she was still weak, not at all in her normal state due to Akira. Sonia could feel the rage building up in her. She would make sure she killed Scara and allowed Akira to cry herself to sleep, her heart shattered, unable to go on...
Though Sonia was about torture, if a quick death made such a devastating blow, Sonia would.

------------------------------------------------------------- "Sound the alarm! You're gonna be UNCOMFORTABLY ENERGETIC!"
Alright, well, the background voice was, at least, entertaining. The commercial itself, however, was certainly eye-catching to a considerably insignificant level. Sarcasm, even in his mind. Yeah, Aurei truly disapproved of this commercial. Was this really the kind of stuff that went around in Cocoon? At least Gran Pulse were more flashy with their commercials. And besides, who would want a chocolate drink? Aurei would prefer something of a fruit flavor...
"What's that? You want strawberry? Well, how about RAWBERRY?! Made with lightning! REAL LIGHTENING!"
And they actually spelled 'lightening' wrongly. Wow, what a commercial. Aurei reached up to his face, placing his palm on his forehead as he brushed his hand downwards, rubbing his face in disbelief. He still could not measure just how ridiculous this commercial was, and his curiousity was the only thing that kept him there. Curiousity of how much more hilarious this might get.
"It isn't your average commercial, I can tell you that." "Sports! Argghhhhh! You'll be good at them!"
Aurei turned his head, finding himself looking at an attractive young lady whose attention and eyes on the commercial itself. And it was the first time he had looked away from the commercial since it had started. And he realised they were the only ones looking at it. Oh, shit, cover blown.
"I guess you're just like me - in for a fresh new city!" "It's the energy drink for men! MENERGY!"
Aurei chuckled, nodding his head. Well, there seemed no point in denying it, since the two of them were the only one who bothered to stay and watch the commercial. Everyone else went on with their lives, without a care for the considerably different commercial.
"Haha, yeah. Right on both accounts. But you have to admit, it is quite entertaining. And energetic." "These aren't your dad's puns. These are energy puns! TURBOPUNS!"
Did they really have to shout at every word? Aurei chuckled, sticking his hand out towards her then, offering a handshake. Well, he had already gotten to know a few people back at Bodhum. Might as well make a few friends here too. Besides, it was not going to last that long anyways.
"Name's Ray, by the way." "Science! Energy! Science! Energy!"

Entertaining? Hardly, she thought. It would be entertaining for a four year old, and only if that four year old was retarded or blind and deaf, which was still retarded in her book. Sonia was back to her studious ways, calculating what she could do or would do next based on his personality. Was he of used to her or was he not? If he was not, she might be in the mood of end him, or she might be generous and let him live.
Maybe he was going to become her entertainment. However, nothing until now had sparked her interest because certainly one with a sense of humor as he was uncommon in any part. That, and she noticed he was fairly friendly, with the name and handshake. Without hesitation, she took the hand gently and shook it just as gentle. It didn't feel like the hands of one who has killed and tortured many, but ones of an innocent, soft, lady.
"Nara. It's...an uncommon name but I come to find I like the originality of my mother and father. But it's nice to meet you, Ray, even under unusual circumstances." She said, smiling. Why didn't she use her real name? Because Sonia Valice could be a well known name and she would not like for her to mess up their perfect meeting with incident. Everything needed to be in control.
She needed to be in control. The commercial blared again as Sonia's 'instinct' was to look up at it, to avoid eye contact. She swore she saw it, a silhouette of her sister, behind him staring at her with maniacal eyes and a red glow. As she was 'distracted' she no longer heard the commercial, just a deafening roar of an angry dragon as she refused to react to it because she knew it wasn't real.
In reality, there was no Akira around, no dragon, no roar. "But I agree. It is certainly entertaining." As if nothing had happened, Sonia went along with the ploy. The sickening stench of blood was filling her nose as she felt her body being weighed down by her own blood, searching for the ground. She knew it wasn't real. She knew in reality, there wasn't a speck of blood on her nor the floor.

------------------------------------------------------------- Her hands were soft and warm, a sensation that Aurei subconsciously welcomed, the man giving her hand a firm but soft grip and shake. And she would then introduce herself, her name reflexively etching itself into his head. That was how Aurei was. He had a good memory when it came to individuals. Anyone he had ever met before, would be someone that Aurei would still be able to recognise, even down many years.
"Nara. It's...an uncommon name but I come to find I like the originality of my mother and father. But it's nice to meet you, Ray, even under unusual circumstances." "Electrolytes! Turbo lights! Power lights! More lights than your body has room for! You'll be so fast that Mother Nature will be like, 'Sloooow doooown.'"
Aurei nodded his head in acknowledge. Nara, huh? Alright. And just as her attention was driven away towards the commercial, Aurei would do the same, his icy blue eyes catching the images, or lack thereof, that were displayed in the commercial. At the moment, it was an old drawing of an artist's interpretation of Mother Nature. Aurei raised an eyebrow. Totally unusual.
"But I agree. It is certainly entertaining." "And you'll be like, 'Fuck you!' and kick her in the face with your ENERGY LEGS"
Aurei's eyes widened, his right hand subconsciously lifting as he pointed at the commercial, his head turning as he looked towards Nara, as if shocked. Did he just hear that right? Did the commercial just gave out an uncensored word? Holy shit was Cocoon messed up.
"... Did it just curse? Cause I swear to The Maker, it just said 'fuck'." "You'll have so much energy! ENERGY! ARGH! Just running ALL THE TIME!"
Aurei chuckled, shaking his head as he lowered his right hand. Of course, he was kept oblivious by the kind of sadistic thoughts that were running through the mind of the older woman who stood beside him. He was oblivious by the notion that he was, in fact, in danger. How deep in danger, though, only time would tell. We can only hope that when it finally reveals itself, Aurei would be ready.

When it actually swore, Sonia let out a little gasp, as if her virgin ears could not take such vulgar words. Sonia was used to much worse than simple swear words. "Imagine if...kids were listening to this...!" She seemed flabbergasted, almost a bit angry at the commercial now, as if she was imagining the children if they went 'look mommy, he just said 'fuck!'.
But she was thinking about this kid, Aurei, Ray to her knowledge, and what she should do to him. He certainly lacked the personality of normal people, unused to torture and pain, and wondered how loudly she could get him to scream - but as she thought these thoughts the 'blood' thickened around her as she took a sharp breath of air and looked away, as if she could take it no more.
"Someone here should have reported such...a vulgar commercial." Sonia dared to look back at the commercial still playing. "I might have to take back that it's entertaining now." Sonia decided to keep her ploy as a woman, single, who used to find the commercial entertaining, but has something lie a motherly nature and rejected the commercial for it's profanity. For the kid's sake. Oh Sonia liked kids - they screamed the loudest when in pain.

If only I knew...------------------------------------------------------------- And she gasped, a gesture that, despite the situation, Aurei found considerably adorable. She looked so young and innocent, and the fact that she was so willing to talk to a stranger like him spoke volumes of her friendliness. Perhaps a good friend in the future? Perhaps. Oh, if only he knew what was really going on in her mind.
"Imagine if...kids were listening to this...!" "Power running. Power lifting. Power sleeping."
Oh right, the minors. Yeah, he had to wonder how that actually worked, when people here seemed to used at the commercial. It was obvious that it was not the first time that it had been aired, but it surprised Aurei that it was actually being aired again. Was Cocoon really this... Vulgar? Well, he would not know. Living down in Gran Pulse, he was used to the hardship and violence of a traveler. And a survivalist.
"Someone here should have reported such...a vulgar commercial. I might have to take back that it's entertaining now." "Power dating. Power eating. Power laughing. Power spawning babies. You'll have so many babies. 400 BABIES!"
Aurei widened his eyes. Was this commercial serious? He watched it, a soft chuckle escaping his lips, but his eyes staying widened. The man was confused between being shocked and being entertained. Cause as entertaining as the commercial was, it seemed so shocking to see it in such a public place. He turned towards Nara. She apparently found it less entertaining, perhaps due to the word 'fuck', which pretty much ruined it. He chuckled once more. Yeah, she seemed like one of those young motherly-type innocent ladies.
"Yeah, well... It doesn't seem like anyone's bothered by it, if you look around. Hell, they seem as if it's part of their everyday lives." "Give Shockolate to your babies and they'll be good at SPORTS. Make your babies run ABNORMALLY FAST. They'll run as fast as CHOCOBOS! People will watch them running and think they're CHOCOBOS!"
Wouldn't hurt asking her out for lunch now... Would it?

He was still entertained by such a strange commercial? Humans certainly were very entertaining, stupid, and maybe a bit crazy. However, one with her dragon blood stripped of her, insanity creeping into her mind more each day,, she wasn't fit to be their judge. But seriously? 400 babies? That was beyond any human capacity unless the man impregnated about 400 woman in his lifetime.
With men nowadays, it was entirely possible. Sonia still acted disgusted at the commercial, though at his words, looked around as if she hadn't noticed and blinked. "You're right...whoever raises their kids to...listen to this...is obviously not there. Or maybe this place has no---" Some 8 year olds zipped by Sonia, 'startling' her as she watched them go by, flabbergasted.
"I don't think I can keep watching this." Sonia said, looking slightly sick when, as if she was sickened by the commercial, or at least, whoever made said commercial. Sonia turned her head away from the commercial slowly, as if it were unbearable to watch. But she saw the chocobo, that flashed on the screen suddenly, pop out, yes out, of the screen. Sonia had to get away from this area before the illusions turn real in her mind.

Shall we go?------------------------------------------------------------- "You're right...whoever raises their kids to...listen to this...is obviously not there. Or maybe this place has no---" "And there will come a time when they'll get deported back to GRAN PULSE! Hey, go with the sure thing! Don't gamble on your energy!"
And Aurei took a step back too, his attention too focused on Nara and the commercial to notice the 8-year-olds as they suddenly whizzed by, shocking the two of them quite utterly. Well, that was scary. Aurei would allow his icy blue eyes to follow their small bodies, before they disappeared into the cover of the crowd. It was then that Aurei allowed his attention to return to Nara.
"I don't think I can keep watching this." "SNAKE EYES! Try Power Thirst! The energy drink that will make you -ARGH!- Sports! -ARGH!-"
Aurei chuckled softly as Nara looked away. He truly did not expect that all this cute and innocent reactions were but a facade to get him to lower his guard, for it was working considerably well. Aurei tilted his head so that he would be leaning towards where she had turned away to, as if trying to get her attention.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better... I think the commercial's over."
He would look towards the screen now, as the thing went on then to another commercial, this one not as attention-demanding. He would give a soft nod of acknowledgement. Well, that was one wacky commercial. Aurei doubted he would ever forget seeing it, even if it was just a brief moment. He turned back to Nara.
"So, Nara, where are you heading off to now?" [/blockquote]

Finally, it was done. Human stupidty sure could go far; Sonia couldn't grasp the insanity in humans sometimes. However, she knew she couldn't say 'those humans' anymore, being stripped of her draconic blood. However, to up her facade, she allowed herself to not notice the end of the commercial until e told her, as she turned around to stare dumbly at it herself.
She let out a sigh of relief. "And I am glad for that." The, he asked her where she was going. "I'm here to find a white mage. Do you know anyone with, er, healing powers? There is a legend, back on my world anyways, saying that somewhere in Cocoon, there's supposedly very few who know the art of healing and that they could heal even a tainted heart."
Sonia looked down, all the happiness, rage, anger, annoyance, or whatever she put in Aurei's mind was gone, leaving a poor, empty shell. "It's a long story but...my sister she---she's not herself. She used to be such a kind soul and now...now human lives are nothing more than targets - fun things to..." Sonia seemed like she didn't want to say it, looking like she was about to cry.
In 'realization' of this, Sonia turned from him. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to change the mood...I just...I was hoping that someone with white magic could heal her tainted heart. I miss my sister the way she was...she had the most beautiful smile."

I'm such a sucker...------------------------------------------------------------- "And I am glad for that. I'm here to find a white mage. Do you know anyone with, er, healing powers? There is a legend, back on my world anyways, saying that somewhere in Cocoon, there's supposedly very few who know the art of healing and that they could heal even a tainted heart."
Well, Aurei had not really heard of such a legend, but he did know of the name of white mages here in Cocoon. Adept in their field, they were said to be able to heal all kind of ailments, even, as Nara says, a tainted heart. They were the reason why Cocoon often had a lot of visitors, especially after the Calamity, but that was not Aurei's reason, though. Despite that, he was curious as to why someone like Nara needed to find a Cocoon white mage. She did not look like she needed healing. Perhaps someone close to her? And he would soon get his answer.
"It's a long story but...my sister she---she's not herself. She used to be such a kind soul and now...now human lives are nothing more than targets - fun things to..."
Something was wrong with her sister, huh? Aurei found himself frowning as he lowered his head, thinking of her predicament. So, she was here to look for a white mage that could help her sister, who seemed to be disturbed by something. A dark transformation, it all sounded to Aurei.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to change the mood...I just...I was hoping that someone with white magic could heal her tainted heart. I miss my sister the way she was...she had the most beautiful smile."
Aurei found himself flinching. A tainted heart, huh? And her sister too. Oh, siblings. Aurei let out a sigh. Yeah, he had a sibling of his own. His older brother, who had been his hero. And still is, in fact. Auric's achievements had been the main motivation for Aurei to always be better than yesterday. And he was as strong as he was then all thanks to his older brother, even when he disappeared almost five years back. Now, Aurei was searching for him. In a way, he sympathised with Nara here. He scratched the back of his head.
"Uhm, I'm actually looking for someone here in Cocoon too. My older brother, to be precise. Since we're both looking for someone, do you wanna look together or something? It'll definitely be a whole lot easier and safer."
He smiled, lowering his hand.

Piqued with curiosity, and of interest, Sonia looked at him and smiled softly. She had a traveling companion now and if she met her sister here...he would probably defend her as she played the harmless damsel in distress. The wheels were turning to how she could use him as a puppet...without his realization. "That sounds like a good idea. But where to look first?"
She still held a hint of sadness, still stuck on her sister's 'tainted heart'. She wondered why he was looking for his brother but she would find out in due time. The only thing Sonia had to worry about was if Aurei would be strong enough to 'protect' her. So,gradually, Sonia looked almost...insecure. Scared, even. "But I'm worried...what if I find my sister before the white mage? I...I don't know what she might do."
Basically, she was also hinting she was worried about his safety. And also hinting 'Nara' couldn't defend herself and that her sister was so 'tainted' that she might even attack her own sibling blindly. Whatever evil that took over her sister was strong and deadly. If only Aurei knew what kind of evil the woman he would help was...
